Beuvron-en-Auge is an oustanding typical village of the Pays d'Auge, a part of Normandy famous for its picturesque countryside, its fine manor houses and half-timbered farms, its stud farms & its gastronomy (dairy products, chicken pays d'Auge, cider & Calvados, sea-food on the sea-side).
The village is deemed to be one of the prettiest in France, with its preserved and well-restored box-framed houses, all of them made of an endless variety of timber pattern and fillings (bricks, cob, tiles).
The house, which faces the House of Hague, a 16thc. Manor listed amongst the places of interest of the district, was completely renovated in 1990-1991. It is heat-insulated, with electric central heating, 4/5 rooms : a 50m2 lounge, 3 bedrooms (1 with king-size bed, 1 twin-bedded, 1 small bedroom has a suspended bed), a large bathroom with a bath tub, a shower and a towel-warmer, an indoor garage, a terrace at the back looking out to a small walled-in garden and a kitchen with the usual appliances : dish-washer, washing machine, microwave oven, deep-freeze.
A second self-contained house is available at the back of the garden with 2 rooms, a shower corner and a kitchen.
The village is 2 hours from Paris by car (motorway) or Train, 15km from Ouistreham, where a ferry links Porsmouth. The sea is near, with quite a few major sea-side resorts: Cabourg at 12km, Deauville at 25km. Caen at some 20km has a memorial of 1944 landing, a fine museum and several historic buildings.
From Beuvron you can go to Lisieux, Bayeux, the Suisse Normande, the Mont
Saint-Michel.
